First-run setup
Draft. This page is written from the product plan and has not been checked against a release.
The first thing you do after the install is open the setup link. It creates your workspace and the first staff account.
The setup link #
The installer prints https://<your domain>/setup?token=.... The link only works while no user exists, and only with the token from the installer. Once the first account is created, /setup is a not-found page.
If you lost the link, or installed without one, create the first account from the server:
eddy create-admin --email you@example.com --name "Your Name"
It prints a one-time link where you set your password.
The form #
- Workspace name. Shown in the top bar and on the sign-in page, and used as the sender name on mail.
- Your name, email and password. This becomes the first staff account.
- Staff email domain. Prefilled from your email address. Anyone who signs in with Google or OpenID Connect using an address on this domain becomes staff. Public mail domains such as gmail.com and outlook.com are refused, because they would make every account on them staff.
- Licence key. Optional. Without one you run the Free edition. You can paste a key later on
/admin/settings. See licence.
Submitting the form signs you in. If two users submit at once, the second sees “Setup is already done. Sign in.”
After setup #
/admin/settings is where staff manage the workspace name, logo and icon, staff domains and licence, and see which email and sign-in methods are on. Create your first project from the project list, then invite your team and your clients.
