MCP and AI tools

Draft. This page is written from the product plan and has not been checked against a release.

An MCP server lets an AI tool use Eddyline as you. Once connected, you can ask Claude to find issues, read docs, comment, change status or log time, and it does it with your access. It can do what you can do and nothing more.

Connector URL #

Every tool connects to https://<your domain>/api/mcp. Your install shows the exact address on its own help page.

Connect #

  • Claude Code. Run claude mcp add --transport http eddy https://<your domain>/api/mcp. It signs you in the first time you use it.
  • Claude Code with a token. Create a token on the API and AI tools page, then add --header "Authorization: Bearer <your token>" to the same command.
  • claude.ai. Open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector. Paste the connector URL and sign in when asked.
  • Other agents and bots. Any MCP client that can send a bearer token can use the connector URL with a personal token. A team bot should have its own account and its own token, because everything it does is recorded under that account. Scripts can use the REST API instead.

Signing in #

Claude Code and claude.ai sign you in through a consent page. Check the app name, then allow it. Apps you have signed in this way are listed under Connected apps on the API and AI tools page, where you can disconnect any of them.

A personal token is the alternative. It is shown once, and you can make it read-only or give it an expiry date. A read-only token can list every tool, but the tools that write return an error when it uses them.

What to ask #

Use plain language. Issue keys and project names work as you would type them:

  • What is assigned to me and what is overdue?
  • Summarize ACME-12 and its comments.
  • Log 1h 30m on ACME-12 for today with the note “Pairing on the redirect”.
  • Move ACME-12 to In review and assign it to me.

Limits #

Everything is recorded under your name, in issue history, notifications and the time report. Long results are shortened, and a note says what was left out. Eddyline refuses to save text that contains that note, so a partial read is never saved back.

Client users get the same limits as in the web app. See client access.
